OCEAN CITY, Md. (PRWEB) January 31, 2022 - Outdoor hospitality specialist Blue Water has recently purchased Pier Point Marina in Dewey Beach, Del., and Captain Bobs Marina in Chincoteague, Va., as it continues to add to its expanding portfolio. Blue Water plans to make marina upgrades and property enhancements while still upholding the traditions these properties have developed for more than 60 years, with both waterfront properties being viewed by the developer as great opportunities to continue to elevate the water sports and recreational activities in each town.
Pier Point Marina, located the next street over from Blue Water property The Bay Resort Waterfront Hotel, is a full-service marina that was built in the early 1950s and has been a family-owned business operated by the Pier Point Family Partnership since 1966. The dock was wiped out when Hurricane Sandy hit the town in 2012, but the family rebuilt it in 2013. When the owners put the business up for bid, Blue Water eagerly stepped in to expand and preserve all that the property has to offer, including 135 boat slips, a boat ramp and boat hoist, six jet ski docks, and much more. Blue Water co-founders Jack and Todd Burbage have worked closely with the Town of Dewey Beach on discussions for redevelopment and are excited to share what they have in store.
This family-owned business has been a staple of Dewey Beach on the Rehoboth Bay for over 60 years, said Todd Burbage, Blue Waters CEO. A lot of love and care has been put into this marina to keep it up and running over the years. Blue Water is honored to carry on that tradition of service and reliability, and apply our signature style of management to this integral part of the fishing, boating, and water enthusiast culture of Dewey Beach.
Blue Water has also acquired Captain Bobs Marina, located on Main Street in Chincoteague and not far from Blue Waters Chincoteague Island KOA, Fairfield Inn & Suites Chincoteague Island Waterfront, Maui Jack's Waterpark, and new development project, Sun Outdoors Chincoteague Bay. This marina has withstood the test of time and weathered all storms to remain a beloved marina on the island since 1960, and it has a long history of serving locals and visitors alike. The marina provides for numerous ocean-based activities with fishing, crabbing, and clamming charters, crabbing docks, and nature & pony cruises.
Captain Bobs Marina also has provided bait, tackle, ice, snacks, fuel, and apparel, as well as a resource for navigation and fishing hotspots for many years. While still in the early planning stages, Blue Water is excited to offer outdoor enthusiasts visiting the area the amenities they know and love along with exciting new additions.
This marina has a long tradition of serving fishing and outdoor enthusiasts with the service and expertise that only comes from hard work, dedication, and a love for and deep knowledge of the beautiful island this marina calls home, said Burbage. We look forward to carrying on that tradition by applying Blue Water's standard of service to this unique marina and our own deep love for the water. We are thrilled to be involved in another waterfront project in Chincoteague and for the opportunity to provide guests with a variety of ways to connect with nature and enjoy the natural beauty and wonder of the island.
