Atlanta Habitat Celebrates 40th Anniversary with Built to Thrive Campaign

ATLANTA (PRWEB) February 09, 2023 - Today, on the 40th day of the year, Atlanta Habitat for Humanity announces the launch of its 40th anniversary campaign, Built to Thrive. The year-long celebration honors the organizations commitment to transforming generations through home ownership.

Established in 1983, the nonprofit affordable home builder will commemorate its legacy by recognizing homeowners, volunteers, partners and staff. Atlanta Habitat will also highlight how the organization goes beyond building homes to empower families and strengthen communities.

Atlanta Habitat completed its first new home for the Wallace family in March 1984 in the Peoplestown neighborhood. Forty years later, the organization has built a total of 1,720 homes in 119 communities across metro Atlanta.

Built to Thrive Our Built to Thrive campaign is about celebrating a 40-year history of providing solutions that help hard working families who are often excluded from wealth-building opportunities become homeowners, said Atlanta Habitat CEO Alan Ferguson. Were in the business of building homes, people and communities and our track record is strong. This year-long celebration is our way of recognizing the lives weve changed along the way.

Changing the trajectory for generations of families is a core part of the organizations mission. In the past 40 years, Atlanta Habitat has helped more than 2,400 families buy or repair their homes. And in the past five years alone, the organization has made a $40 million impact on neighborhoods in Atlanta and South Fulton County.

The 40th anniversary campaign is centered around the organizations brand promise to help families build, thrive and grow. Throughout the year, there will be notable moments to honor homeowners, host special events, tell heartfelt stories, spotlight volunteers and recognize Atlanta Habitat staff both past and present. Atlanta Habitat will also fill a branded time capsule with memorabilia that captures special occasions.

Our work has helped hard working families who have traditionally been squeezed out of financial inclusion opportunities achieve the dream of home ownership, said Ferguson who grew up in South DeKalb County and graduated from Morehouse College.

Operating as an affordable home builder, financial institution and resource hub, the nonprofit maintains lasting relationships with homeowners to help them learn to care for their property, achieve financial independence, become active civic citizens, explore professional development and earn scholarships for specialized skills training or secondary education.
