NEW YORK (PRWEB) August 31, 2021 - Yvette Lee Bowser, Writer-Producer and President, SisterLee Productions, Inc. has joined the Board of Directors of Girls Inc., the national organization that inspires all girls to be strong, smart, and bold.
Bowser is the first and youngest African American woman to create and run her own television series. She also has the distinction of executive producing and shepherding nine series onto myriad primetime, cable, and streaming platforms. An industry veteran and devoted mentor, Bowser helped launch the Writers Guild of America's Showrunner Training Program, which has prepared some of today's most prolific and successful writer-producers. Her dedication to producing high-quality programming composed of culturally inclusive stories earned her a place in Stanford University's Multicultural Hall of Fame. Bowser was recently recognized as 'One of the 50 Most Impactful Women in Business Over the Past 50 Years by Black Enterprise.

Yvette has advanced diversity and equity in the entertainment industry, creating and producing the kinds of shows that allow girls to see new possibilities for themselves and their futures. Deeply committed to charitable causes, Bowser has lent her support to many organizations, including The Children's Legal Defense Fund, The NAACP, The HollyRod Foundation, Free America, United Way, Girls Inc, My Good, and Tree People. She also serves on the board of Less Cancer and the Stanford Alumni Association.
Girls Inc. is poised to increase the number of girls who participate, and the organization is strengthening its advocacy efforts in support of equitable opportunities for all girls. Last month, Girls Inc. was awarded $10M as part of the Equality Cant Wait Challenge, hosted by Pivotal Ventures, MacKenzie Scott and Dan Jewett, and Charles and Lynn Schusterman Family Philanthropies, which calls for bold ideas to expand womens power and influence in the U.S. by 2030.
