WASHINGTON (PRWEB) March 15, 2023 - Today, the Vinyl Institute (VI) presented Congressman David Rouzer (R-NC-7) with the Vinyl Institutes Congressional Champion Award. The VI appreciates his commitment to invest in our nations water infrastructure and his longstanding commitment to continued investment in infrastructure for rural communities. Congressman Rouzer vigorously fights for American farmers so they can continue to provide the safest, most affordable food supply in the world.

The Vinyl Institutes Congressional Champion Award was established by the VI in 2019 to honor Members of Congress who have advanced the vinyl industrys legislative priorities in their states and districts; respond effectively to constituents needs and concerns; and support commonsense legislation that uses taxpayer dollars responsibly in addressing the critical needs of the nation and keeps our economy strong and thriving. It is presented annually.

The members of the Vinyl Institute are honored to recognize Congressman Rouzer with this award for his support of federal investment in our nations farms and rural communities, said Ned Monroe, Vinyl Institute President & CEO. Rep. Rouzer has worked tirelessly for investment in water and wastewater infrastructure in rural communities to give them the flexibility necessary to address their growing needs. He understands that we must have greater resiliency in community water infrastructure. In addition, his experience working on a farm in college gave him a first-hand account of the needs and challenges of farmers.

Congressman Rouzer represents the 7th district in North Carolina, which employs more than 1,000 people in the vinyl industry with an economic impact of more than $166 million. Rouzer currently serves on the House Agriculture Committee and the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. He has served as a ranking member or chairman of a subcommittee on both since his first day in office, which has enabled him to better address the unique needs of his district and state. He is a member of a number of caucuses in Congress including a founding member of the Primary Care Caucus and the Supply Chain Caucus, as well as the Western Caucus giving him the opportunity to help farmers facing long-standing drought issues.

Prior to Congress, Congressman Rouzer formed his own business doing consulting and sales work, predominately in the agricultural arena. His public service includes two terms in the North Carolina Senate representing Johnston and Wayne counties (2009-2012) where he was consistently ranked as one of the most effective pro-business legislators.

Congressman Rouzer also served as assistant to the dean and director of commodity relations for the College of Agriculture & Life Sciences at NC State University in between two stints with U.S. Senator Jesse Helms, where he started out as a legislative assistant and later served as a senior policy advisor. He was also a senior advisor for U.S. Senator Elizabeth Dole.
