ProLiteracy Invests $600,000 in New Adult Education and Literacy Initiatives

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (PRWEB) September 06, 2021 - ProLiteracy, the largest national adult literacy nonprofit organization in the United States announced a series of new education initiatives that will impact its mission of changing lives and communities through the power of adult literacy.

The $600,000 investment will be allocated to six new ProLiteracy initiatives that will focus on the organizational strategies related to educational resources, professional development, advocacy, and sustainability. Almost one-third of the investment, $182,000, is being allocated to launching the following two projects that will focus directly on the changing needs of adult education and literacy providers in 2021 and beyond:

'Our new initiatives will address the evolving needs of adult literacy programs both domestic and international.' said Michele Diecuch, Senior Director of Programs.

Kevin Morgan, President and CEO of ProLiteracy, said in a statement 'Part of the core mandate of the board of directors is to assure that the organization has adequate capacity and resources to affect its mission. We are fortunate that through individual donations, bequests, fees for services, and our investment portfolio, the organization's net assets have increased 350 percent since 2013. The board of directors has approved an annual spend down of 5 percent of board-designated endowment to underwrite new initiatives to scale our impact.'

Morgan added 'The board recently approved a number of requests that focus on ProLiteracy's key strategic goals of professional development, education resources, and advocacy to benefit adult literacy programs in the field.'
