BETHESDA, Md. (PRWEB) November 02, 2022 - Karen Herson, Founder & CEO of Concepts Communications, is the Countys Commission on People with Disabilities newest member. Her term began on September 24, 2022. She currently serves in a variety of advocacy and leadership capacities in Montgomery County and the broader Washington, D.C. area and brings several decades of experience with her. This appointment is a direct result of her dedication and commitment to the disability and veteran community.

To serve on the Commission, members are appointed by the County Executive, then confirmed by the County Council. The Commission advises the County Executive and the County Council on the needs and concerns of the residents who have psychiatric, developmental, physical, or sensory disabilities. Herson will contribute to policy coordination and development for and inclusive of people with disabilities.

As a disabled, female, small business owner, Karen draws upon more than 30 years of experience serving clients in the disability employment sphere and public relations field. She directly manages a number of projects, including public education and national outreach campaigns, for the U.S. Department of Labors Office of Disability Employment Policy.

I am honored to have the opportunity to join the Commission on People with Disabilities, said Herson. Montgomery County has been my home for several decades and it's where I started and have grown a business that advances disability-inclusive policies and practices. I am thrilled that I will be able to bring my expertise and voice to continue to push forward these efforts in my own community.

In addition to Montgomery Countys Commission on People with Disabilities, Karen is a member of the Forbes Business Council, the American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD) Disability Advisory Roundtable, and 2gether-Internationals Advisory Board. Karen also sits on the board of the National Council on Independent Living, the Columbia Lighthouse for the Blind, the Colorectal Cancer Alliance, and the Disability:IN DC Metro.
