NEW YORK (PRWEB) February 11, 2022 - Attorneys from global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP represented longtime client Mexico Infrastructure Partners and Fibra EXI in a sustainable credit facility for MX$500 million (approx. US$25 million) granted by BBVA to the latter.
The transaction marks the first loan granted to a Fibra E (infrastructure investment trust) in Mexico. The loan is linked to a sustainable index seeking to reduce energy intensity in KWh produced by non-renewable sources per kilometer of the assets owned and operated by Fibra EXI, which include four toll roads and a toll tunnel.
Mexico Infrastructure Partners (MIP), Fibra EXIs manager, is the largest Mexican energy and infrastructure fund manager, with investments in the transportation, energy, telecommunications, and water sectors in Mexico, Colombia, and Peru.
The Greenberg Traurig team representing MIP and Fibra EXI was led by Project & Infrastructure Finance Shareholder Jos Antonio Butrn Quintero, who frequently acts as counsel in MIP and Fibra EXI deals. These include the IPO of Fibra EXI on the Mexican Stock Exchange in August 2021, and the acquisition of the five road infrastructure portfolio projects: Kantunil-Cancn highway, Apaseo-Palmillas highway, Ro Verde-Ciudad Valles highway, the La Piedad bypass, and the Interurban Acapulco tunnel which were initially acquired by the EXI funds and subsequently rolled over into Fibra EXI, both of which have been nominated for industry leading awards, including Deal of the Year, Latin America by Infrastructure Investor.
