BOULDER, Colo. (PRWEB) May 01, 2023 - Despite a changing job marketplace and uncertain economy, the National Association of Colleges and Employers reports that employers plan to hire 3.9 percent more graduates from the Class of 2023 than from the Class of 2022. For new Gen Z grads and job seekers in particular, remote and hybrid work options remain a priority when looking for a post-college career. In fact, recent studies have found nearly a quarter of Gen Z students and new grads ranked remote work as the most important job factor, and more than three out of five said they prefer a hybrid environment. To help new graduates and early job seekers better evaluate their remote work options this spring, FlexJobs has shared the top 10 career categories for entry-level remote roles, based on data between January 1 and April 30, 2023.
Whether youre a recent graduate or just new to the workforce, todays job landscape can be incredibly tough to navigate, said Keith Spencer, Career Expert at FlexJobs. Fortunately as this research demonstrates, entry-level workers dont have to choose between flexibility or finding a job. As is the case with any new job search, having clear career goals, organizing a job search plan, and consulting resources like our latest list of top entry-level jobs are essential in pursuing early career paths, Spencer added.
FlexJobs identified the top 10 careers for entry-level, remote roles by analyzing more than 50 career categories in its database and determining the fields with the highest number of entry-level job postings between January 1 and April 30, 2023 that offered any level of remote work, including hybrid work options.

1. Customer Service 2. Accounting & Finance 3. Medical & Health 4. Administrative 5. Bilingual 6. Computer & IT 7. Bookkeeping 8. Sales 9. Marketing 10. HR & Recruiting

When launching a career search, FlexJobs career experts encourage new graduates and first-time job seekers to keep the following tips top of mind.
1. Create a Well-Developed Career & Job Search Plan Even if a job seeker is unsure of the industry they want to work in, its best to have a tangible objective that can be communicated to employersand an organized job search plan should be right behind it. This means creating daily and weekly goals to stay on target, conducting informational interviews, scheduling time for follow-ups, and dedicating time to researching companies so that submissions are tailored to the role and companys culture.
2. Establish a Personal Brand Tying into the tip above, the more streamlined a candidates personal brand, the more attractive they are to prospective employers. When companies compare a job seekers resume, cover letter, and LinkedIn profile, they should match well enough to see that this isnt just any job for them, but a coveted first career step. Additionally, building a website related to an industry can help provide a future employer with insight into how a worker will fit into their company culture.
3. Network, Network, and Network Some More When just starting out in a career, its understandable that workers wont have a vast or deep network established yet. Thats why its wise they widen their perception of what counts as a network. Consider becoming a member of a business networking group specifically focused on a given industry. By attending that groups events, job seekers can open up to people who share their professional interests and goals. Plus, dont forget to actively engage in LinkedIn groups and interact with alumni groups.
4. Utilize Freelance and Volunteer Opportunities One of the best ways to support a resume is to start getting experience. Try volunteering, which is enticing to employers, or freelancing to provide other avenues to grow tangible experience and transferable skills. Often, companies onboard freelancers and then offer them permanent roles down the road as they become available.
5. Seek Out Expert Advice Most colleges have career counseling offices that provide resume reviews, tips on interviewing skills, and job search advice. Also consider reaching out to a professional career coach, who can help with creating a focused career goal and advice like formatting a resume for applicant tracking systems or determining existing transferable skills that align well with various career paths.
