FREDERICK, Md. (PRWEB) April 15, 2021 - After one year in a more passive mode due to the pandemic, Power of Change Frederick is excited to announce a relaunch of the meter donation project on Thursday, April 22, 2021, at 3:30 PM. A small 'relaunching' ceremony will be held to debut the newest meters as part of the project at Federated Charities (20 S. Market Street).
Power of Change currently has three meters in the community collecting change for local nonprofits. After the relaunch, numerous other meters will be placed in the community, hosted by local businesses.
'During the pandemic, there wasn't much foot traffic, and with the national coin shortage, we thought it was best to pull back on the project a little bit. But behind the scenes, our work continued. We were able to secure a donation of a fleet of parking meters, work to improve the stability and security of the meters, and more,' shared project founder Ashley Waters. 'The team is excited to launch these new meters and to redeploy the first set into the community to bring together much-needed funds for local nonprofits.'
Power of Change Frederick debuted in Frederick in 2019 to showcase that the 'whole is often greater than the sum of its parts.' Designed to use recycled parking meters as donation stations, contributions of quarters, dimes, nickels, and pennies are collectively gathered to support the many nonprofit organizations in the Frederick community. This project epitomizes the power of change, both literally and figuratively, and is supported by Federated Charities.
