SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (PRWEB) November 03, 2022 - Southfield, Michigan (November 3, 2022) The Autism Alliance of Michigan (AAoM) is pleased to announce that Dr. Ashley Shayter, PhD, LBA, BCBA-D, CBIS, Policy Manager for Statewide Education & Outreach, has been selected as CDCs Act Early Ambassador to Michigan.

Act Early Ambassadors work with CDCs Learn the Signs. Act Early. program to improve early identification of developmental delays and disabilities so that children and their families can access needed services as early as possible.

'This is such a significant opportunity for AAoM and our state, said Colleen Allen, Ph.D., President and CEO of AAoM. Reducing the age of diagnosis and access to critical services is one of our major strategic initiatives over the next 10 years. The Learn the Signs. Act Early. Campaign is perfectly aligned with this work. Dr. Shayters role as Ambassador will allow us to connect with national experts, colleagues in other states addressing this priority, and resources to share with stakeholders.

Since 2011, professionals with medical, child development, developmental disability, special education, and early intervention expertise have been selected to serve as a state or territorial point-of-contact for the national Learn the Signs. Act Early. program. The ambassador supports the work of Act Early Teams and other Michigan-specific initiatives to improve early identification of developmental delay and disability; and promote the adoption and integration of Learn the Signs. Act Early. resources into systems that serve young children and their families.

Im very excited to be the CDCs Act Early Ambassador for Michigan! Empowering parents with tools to watch their child grow and thrive is so important, says Dr. Ashley Shayter. We know that early intervention is key to maximizing long-term benefits. I hope my work as the Act Early Ambassador will encourage everyone who interacts with young childrenfrom families to healthcare organizations to educatorsto use the Learn the Signs. Act Early. materials and resources so we can ensure a bright and successful future for Michigans children.
