Dark Horse CPAs Announce Hiring of Brett Tester as Principal Accelerator

DULUTH, Minn. Testers vast and diverse accounting experience in public accounting earned him a seat in Dark Horses Principal Accelerator Program.

Brett earned a bachelors degree in accounting and finance from The College of St. Scholastica along with a CPA license from the state of Minnesota. He brings to Dark Horse over a decade of experience in public practice and private industry in the areas of tax and accounting, serving a wide range of individuals and entities. Brett loves going against the grain, which is quite the fortuitous coincidence given that Dark Horse was intentionally built against said grain.

When asked what made the Accelerator Program compelling, he responded, Ive always gone against the grain in all areas of my life and yet somehow, I found myself stuck in the hamster wheel of the public accounting grind. As I began to seek out and follow progressive thought leaders in accounting, I came across Chase Birky on LinkedIn. Dark Horses catchphrase, a better way to CPA, really caught my attention. Another thing that caught my attention was that a former colleague of mine that I very much enjoyed working with, Troy Constance, was the firms Director of Tax. Then, I had the opportunity to meet more great folks at Dark Horse and realized this was a great fit for me.'

In terms of the work, Brett noted, Im excited to build my practice with the balance of autonomy and collaboration curated by Dark Horse. Previously, I was spending less than 20% of my time working directly with clients. I suppose it was the Pareto Principal playing out in real life but I know I can flip that around over time so that the majority of my time is spent directly serving entrepreneurs and small businesses. Im excited for my journey at Dark Horse and to join alongside my clients journeys along the way.
